Q: I have heard that DVD is not good archival type media. So what do I have do to protect my movies?
A:
The best way to preserve memories on your film is to have the film transferred to digital media. We will transfer your film to Mini-DV tape (for archival purposes) and we will create DVD Video with menus for your viewing. To preserve the video for the future, you should store the Mini DV tape safe and dry place so it can be used to create new media disk should your DVD disk break or if your are creating new final DVD Video disc. Yes, you are in possesion of the Mini DV tape which can be used as a source to make new DVD Video discs.

Q: All DVD discs are created equal, RIGHT?
A:
No! The Video and Computer industry use different DVD discs and to find out more about it, click here.

Q: I have some sort of film, but I am not sure if it is 8mm or Super 8mm. As a matter of fact it's been in a box forever. What can you do with it?
A:
You can send the film to us and we will carefully examine it's condition. If we can not safely transfer the film to digital media we will notify you, and ship the film back to you. If film is salvageable then, we will proceed with quotation and advise you of transfer costs before any charges are incurred.

Q: I would like to have 2 video tapes combined on one DVD disc. Is that possible?
A:
Yes, it is possible. However depending on the length of the recording on the tape, it might be difficult to guarantee video quality. DVD disks are rated for 2 hours of DVD type content. This capacity can be exceeded but quality of the video has to be sacrificed, since the compression rate must be increased to squeeze extra material on the disk. We advise that total capacity be at about 2 hours of video encoded material.

Q: Will the DVD disc you make play in my DVD player?
A:
We use brand name DVD-R discs. We also use state of the art Pioneer recorders to perform the actual burn of the media. Our disk have been found to be compatible with about 95% of the DVD players in the market. Please check here for compatibility of our DVD-R media with your DVD player. If you find that the player listed is not "generally " compatible with the DVD-R media, we can create DVD+R media for you!
